European Migration Network

The Network Members compile information from a range of resources. The principal aim of EMN data collection is to develop a comprehensive repository for data and information in the field of migration and asylum focused generally, although not wholly, on Europe.

Currently, network members collect, analyse, and then introduce information and data into the Information Exchange System in the following areas:

• legislation and case-law on migration and asylum, paying special attention to the implementation of EU legislation at the national level
• recent and current publications in the fields of migration and asylum, for example, research studies, research reports, policy-related material, NGO communiqués, party platforms, and other such materials
• contact details of researchers and research institutes, and specialised institutions and organisations on the national and European level dealing with migration and asylum matters
• information about other resources providing EMN with relevant documents

Since October 2004, the EMN has been working to develop an EMN-specific thesaurus and corresponding glossary. The development of the thesaurus and glossary is considered a work in progress and it will be open for supplementary changes or improvements even after its integration into the information system.
